Fred has spent over 55 years dedicated to Bible teaching and ministry, including 10 years as a pastor. His passion for God's Word led him to earn a B.A. in Bible and Pastoral Ministries in Iowa, followed by both a Master of Divinity in Theology and a Master of Education from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He also holds a teaching certificate from Arizona State University.
Fred especially enjoys what he calls the "three H’s" - hermeneutics, homiletics, and hymnology. He is well known for bringing Scripture to life through his detailed and engaging PowerPoint lessons. He has been a valued part of the COC family for the past 13 years, faithfully serving in various ministries.
After 41 years of marriage, Fred became a widower in 2018. In 2022, he met Mary at COC after she relocated from Louisiana. She had also lost her spouse after 34 years of marriage. Their shared experiences and faith brought them together, and they were married in October 2024. Today, Fred and Mary serve side by side in several ministries at COC, finding joy and purpose in giving back. Fred also enjoys working part-time as an educator at the Reagan Library.
