Bob is our Senior Pastor. He has made three great decisions in his life. The first was to believe in Jesus Christ as his Savior during his childhood. The second was to propose, marry and love life with Pamela (forty three years and counting). And third, to accept the call to be pastor of Church of the Canyons in 1995. Twenty two years have come and gone and there is no place he would rather be. His personal goal for the Church of the Canyons family is summed up in this simple phrase, "To know God and serve Him together".
Bob received his undergraduate training at Arizona State University (Go Devils!) in music education. He played trombone professionally and taught in a variety of public and private school settings and was principal of West Side Private School in Glendale Arizona for nine years. He completed his seminary education at Western Seminary Phoenix, (now Phoenix Seminary) and served as assistant pastor at West Side Bible Church prior to accepting the call to service at COC.
A Pastor's ministry varies from person to person according to the gifts given to him by God. Bob's shepherding style is one of an open door. He knows his congregation and prays for their needs regularly. His style of preaching is exegetical. You will find that Pastor Bob's study in God's Word results in practical and challenging teaching.
Several years back Bob had a bout with cancer. When faced with the reality that our days are numbered a certain Elder said to Bob "where do you want to be, we'll make it happen, do you want to go home?" Bob's answer was simply "I want to stay right here at Church of the Canyons." God has graciously healed Bob and blessed his ministry here, at "home."
